The dress is described as a “long sequin dress in deep dark blue with one sleeve.”She said she opted to re-wear the dress to her wedding and several other occasions after because she wasn’t able to afford another one and “it’s basically the only one fancy dress I own.”However, she dipped into murky waters when she decided to wear the dress once again to her friend Ciara’s wedding. One woman is wondering if she was in the wrong for wearing her previous wedding dress — a blue sequined gown — to a friend’s wedding.
She explained her dilemma in a recentReddit poston the popular subreddit “Am I an A——?,” saying that she had married her husband two years ago in a blue sequined gown that she also wore to prom. The dress is described as a “long sequin dress in deep dark blue with one sleeve.”
She said she opted to re-wear the dress to her wedding and several other occasions after because she wasn’t able to afford another one and “it’s basically the only one fancy dress I own.”
However, she dipped into murky waters when she decided to wear the dress once again to her friend Ciara’s wedding. She said Ciara, 22, had sent over an invitation to her own ceremony with a color scheme of dark blue and she requested that guests wear “fancy attire.”
“I thought my dark blue dress would be fine,” she said, also noting that “most of the guests were wearing even fancier dresses.”
“It’s not white and it’s not even remotely close to a wedding dress,” she added. “I also didn’t feel like wasting money on another fancy dress that I wouldn’t ever wear again, especially since we aren’t rich.”
She explained that she showed up in the dress, and when the bride saw her “she lost it.” Ciara, who had previously attended her wedding and knew that she had donned the blue sequined dress as her wedding dress, began yelling at her in front of her groom and guests about the dress.
“[She said] that what I did was horrible and that no one shows up at a wedding in a wedding dress,” the woman said on Reddit.
She continued, “I tried to reason with her, saying that the dress isn’t a wedding dress, it’s the only fancy piece of clothing I own… She didn’t listen and kept yelling at me to the point her bridesmaids and her husband started trying to calm her down.”
The woman said she ended up leaving the wedding early with her husband because she was “upset with the drama.” After she returned home from the wedding, she began to get texts from her friend who “blamed” her for “upstaging” her on her big day and “driving a wedge between her and her husband” who had told her that she “overreacted massively.”
The woman said she ultimately ignored the texts because she thought her friend was “being unreasonable,” but also noted that “a part of me thinks that I was an AH because I wore the dress to my own wedding.”
