As Optimus Prime would say, “You picked the wrong planet!”
New robots are invading Earth in the seventh installment of theTransformersfranchise — and fans will see the fight go down on June 9, 2023, whenTransformers: Rise of the Beastshits theaters.
Ahead of the film’s release, here’s everything to know about the latestTransformersmovie.
What isTransformers: Rise of the Beastsabout?

Set in 1994, the film takes place in Brooklyn, New York, with travel to Peru.Rise of the Beastswill introduce three new robot tribes — Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons — to the existing battle on earth between the Autobots and Decepticons. The Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons are robots that turn into robotic animals.
The cast hasn’t divulged much more about the plot, but Ramos says it’s unlike anyTransformersmovie fans have seen before.
“I read the script and almost threw it across the room,” he said.

Transformers: Rise of the BeastsstarsIn the Heights' Anthony Ramos, who was tapped forthe film in April 2021.The Deuce’s Dominique Fishbacksigned on to costarjust weeks later. The actors, who are both from Brooklyn, have been friends and colleagues in the entertainment business for more than five years. They will star in the movie as archaeologists in 1994 Brooklyn, who find themselves involved in an ancient conflict between the three factions of Transformers.
As for the Transformers, formerSaturday Night LivestarPete Davidsonwill voice the character Mirage; and Michelle Yeoh, who starred inEverything Everywhere All at Once, will voice the character Airazor. Their casting announcement came in October 2022via a post from the officialTransformersTwitter account, which was made in response to the film’s director, Steven Caple Jr., who sharedvideos on Instagramshowing behind-the-scenes footage of both Davidson and Yeoh recording dialogue for their roles.
Is there a trailer forTransformers: Rise of the Beasts?
After much anticipation, Paramount Picturesdropped the first official trailer on Dec. 1, 2022. The two-minute teaser shows a brief exchange between Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal — the leader of the Maximals who transforms into a King Kong-sized gorilla.
“I’m not the one to fear, Prime. There is a darkness coming. Of all the threats from both your past and future, you’ve never faced anything like this,” Optimus Primal says, to which Optimus Prime responds: “Let them come.”
The trailer concludes with a clip of a massive battle scene between the robot tribes.
During the Super Bowl on Feb. 12, 2023, Paramount Pictures released another trailer for the film. The video included action-packed clips, including a car chase where a police officer yells to Noah to “pull over” before Ramos' character shouts back, “I’m not driving!”
The trailer also features Davidson’s character, who cooly says, “Relax, I’m Mirage, remember?” before a quick cut shows Noah screaming behind the wheel.
In April 2023, Paramount dropped thesecond official trailer. The two-minute teaser expands on the conversation between Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal in the first trailer.
The trailer also includes the first exchange between Noah and Mirage.
“Back up!” the actor says, wielding a metal pipe as a weapon after watching the silver Porsche transform into a robot. Mirage, clearly the film’s comic relief, responds: “Woah, I thought we were boys?”
Later, the pair discuss Unicron and his impending arrival.
“How big can this guy be?” Noah asks. To which Mirage says, “Uh, he eats planets. So, like way bigger than a planet.”

Steven Caple Jr., known for his work onCreed II, is directing the film. Caple Jr. has shared several behind-the-scene shots from the set on his Instagram. In October 2021, he revealed that the movie had wrapped filming when he posted asnapof him driving a truck with the caption, “That’s a wrap 🎬.”

The film will hit theaters on June 9, 2023. Paramount Pictures alsoconfirmed it will be the first in a planned trilogy, and that a “CG animatedTransformerstheatrical film” will follow in 2024.

While chatting withTheBreakfast Clubhosts, Ramos expressed his excitement to join the ranks ofShia LaBeoufandMark Whalberg.
“They decided to give the Latino the shot, ‘I was like yo, good looks,’ " he said, proudly adding that he’s doing most of his own stunt work. “I’ve been training how to drive stick shift, and I was drifting with the stunt coordinator. I do as many of my stunts as possible. It’s better.”
But there was one hitch in that plan early on — Ramos, who grew up in N.Y.C., didn’t have a driver’s license before filming the movie. “My director is like, ‘The car, we need you to drive it,’ “he explained on theSpoutpodcast. “I had like a two week-window to try and book a road test and pass.”
