St. Louis Blues fans let out their St. Louis boos when player Jordan Kyrou took the ice on Thursday night, and the NHL forward said it was tough to hear on his home team’s ice after the game.
Speaking to reporters after St. Louis' 4-2 win over the Ottawa Senators, Kyrou, 25, said he “definitely heard” the booing from fans when he entered the game and each time he touched the puck, according toTSN.
“It’s not easy,” Kyrou added.
Before the start of the game, Kyrou was asked about the recent firing of Blues head coach Craig Berube, saying, “I have no comment” and “He’s not my coach anymore.”
Berube, who led the team to a Stanley Cup championship in 2019, was let go from his role as head coach after the Blues' fourth consecutive loss. They named Drew Bannister, coach of the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League, as interim coach,

Kyrou continued, “He’s been my coach the whole time I’ve been here. I respect everything he’s done here. He’s done a great job. He’s won a Cup.”
Instead of a snub, Kyrou explained that he only “really meant” to say he wanted to “focus on my future and focus on what I can do to help my team win,” while addressing reporters, per TSN.
The St. Louis athlete said, “I love playing here, so it’s tough to hear the fans booing me.”
Becoming visibly emotional, Kyrou added, “It’s definitely the toughest game I’ve ever played. Obviously, my teammates have my back.”

Kyrou played six seasons under Berube in St. Louis after the Blues drafted him in the second round in 2016.
On Saturday, the Blues will host the Dallas Stars at Enterprise Center in Missouri. They are currently holding a 14-14-1 record and sit in fifth place in the Central Division.
