Mr. & Mrs. Smith are back!
On Thursday, Prime Video dropped the official trailer for the hotly anticipated series based on the 2005 movie of the same name, starringBrad PittandAngelina Jolie.
This action-packed, reimagined version — which will be available to stream starting Feb. 2 — seesDonald Gloverstar alongsideMaya Erskineas two strangers who land mysterious jobs as spies.
The Smiths have to navigate a different, high-risk mission in each episode of the series. But the biggest challenge the couple comes to face is their feelings for one another. They find themselves facing the question: What’s riskier, espionage or marriage?

The trailer depicts Glover’s John and Erskine’s Jane navigating life as a fake, married couple employed as computer software engineers while also jetting across the globe for their undercover spy job. But Jane is quick to set some boundaries with her colleague, saying, “I should be clear: I’m not in this for the romance.”
However, as they continue to spend time together for their mission, John and Jane appear to grow closer. The two even share a steamy kiss.
“What do you think happens if we fail? asks Jane.
“Our marriage?” John responds, to which Jane replies, “Our mission.”

The show originally starredFleabag’sPhoebe Waller-Bridgeopposite Glover. However, the British star eventuallystepped away from the projectin September 2021 due to creative differences with theCommunityalum.

“I worked on that show for six months fully in heart and mind and really cared about it — still care about it,” Waller-Bridge, 48, later toldThe Hollywood Reporterin June. “And I know it’s gonna be brilliant. But sometimes it’s about knowing when to leave the party. You don’t want to get in the way of a vision. Creative collaboration is like a marriage, and some marriages don’t work out.”
At the time of her departure, Prime Video echoed similar sentiments in a statement shared with PEOPLE: “We can confirm that Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover have mutually and amicably parted ways on the series.”
Glover first announced the project with Waller-Bridge on hisInstagram Storyin February 2021, sharing a video of himself dancing alone before cutting to footage of the award-winning actress.
“Mr + Mrs Smith,” he wrote at the time. “Donald Glover x Phoebe Waller-Bridge.”
Despite choosing not to team up forMr. & Mrs. Smith, Glover and Waller-Bridge have worked together successfully in the past, starring as Lando Calrissian and L3-37, respectively, in 2018’sSolo: A Star Wars Story.
