Mary Lou Rettonis “still fighting,” according to her daughters.

In a video on InstagramWednesday, Schrepfer added that her mom is “still fighting.”

According to the Associated Press, Retton is being treated at a hospital in Texas. The Olympic champion gymnast has been a longtime resident of Houston since moving to the area for her training in the 80s.

Retton shares Shayla as well as daughters Skyla, Emma and McKenna with ex-husband Shannon Kelley.

On Tuesday, McKenna first shared the news of her mom’s health in a post on her Instagram Story, which included a link to a fundraising page onSpotfund.

“My amazing mom, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life,” she wrote in a message on the fundraising page. “She is not able to breathe on her own. She’s been in the ICU for over a week now. Out of respect for her and her privacy, I will not disclose all details. However, I will disclose that she is not insured.”

On Wednesday, McKenna, who followed in her mom’s footsteps and competed as a gymnast for Louisiana State University,also shared her appreciationfor the “outpouring of love and support for our Mom.”

“Mom is in the ICU and continues to fight,” McKenna wrote on Instagram. “She is getting incredible medical care! Thank you to all the doctors and nurses!”

As of Wednesday morning, the fundraiser has surpassed $250,000 from over 4,000 donors.

Retton’s generous backers have offered more than just their financial support. Comments on the fundraiser have been pouring in with thoughtful messages for Retton and her family to accompany the donations.

One user who donated $20 to Retton said, “GET WELL MARY LOU!! You are America’s Sweet Heart and we are all rooting for you!”

In her Instagram post, Shayla acknowledged the outpouring of love.

“My sisters and I are overwhelmed — overwhelmed,” she said. “We didn’t even realize that there’s so many people out there that love her just as much as we do and it’s been a really hard time for our family.

She added, “And so just seeing that people love her like that, showing her that support has just meant the world to us and to her, so thank you.”
