How Olympic Pole Vaulters Travel with Their Gigantic Poles

You would think that if you were an Olympic athlete , you could fleet through airport security , fly on a G6 and walk on clouds til you contact Olympic Park . Not exactly unfeigned ! For rod vaulters , it ’s a pain in the ass to travel because of , well , their mammoth rod .

It ’s just not well-heeled to move something that ’s 17 feet long and worth thousands of one dollar bill , you know ? Pole vaulter are untrusting of shipping companies because they have to part with their pole super early and also because of the repugnance stories of cracked and broken in pole . Going with the airlines is a dogshit shoot too , sometimes airline employees have them on , other times the terminal pole vaulter is left with 5 bag of poles that theNY Times sayslooks “ like something a behemoth might use to carry his skis ” . Even if the Pole do get on , the jock have to sometimes fork over pathetic fee that can run as high as $ 750 . It ’s not fun being a pole vaulter on the go , no other Olympic jock has to concern about tools bigger than themselves .

But many pole pole vaulter have face the worst case scenario of ditch their pole at the aerodrome and borrowing poles from the effect .
