tick to viewThis has to be one of the coolheaded , most useful ghetto hacks ever : a modder call the2jakes built a chemical mechanism to control the analogue joystick of a PlayStation 2 gamepad with his head . Using just an ingenious rig , a baseball cap and a USB cable extender , his homemade forefront - mounted exhibit controls the game view with the natural movement of his head word , rather than using his pollex . In this video he uses his invention to calculate around while playing Test Drive Unlimited .
Jesus Diaz : How long did it take for you to complete ?
the2jakes : As far as I can remember , 3 time of day . This is just a beta version , I only wanted to see if a PS2 analog joystick was a dear means to achieve head trailing for the Playstation 2 . The last goal was to

add it to my homemade HMD . That ’s why you only see me test it on my TV in this beta variant video .
JD : So there will be a 2nd version ?
t2j : To be honnest , there wo n’t be any “ final ” variation of it , for several rationality : foremost , too few PS2 games integrate “ free tone ” subprogram . I only know Test Drive Unlimited and Ace armed combat Zero that have this occasion . I prefer wait for the PS3 , since I could n’t find any Sixaxis twist for the PS2 . That would do much better the Book of Job … I believe there is much more to do for the PS3 .

JD : Why the PS3 ?
t2j : Did n’t you mark how pitiable this console table is regarding its computer peripheral ? I ’m really disapointed about it ( the PS3 has been launched a foresightful time ago now , and Sixaxis is so cool I ca n’t realise why they did n’t progress any cooler peripheral with it ( other than gamepads ) . For now they did n’t integrate “ barren flavour ” mapping in GT5 Prologue on the PS3 … I ’ve tested it … it ’s sad . You only get a binary panache view ( left or right , no smooth free look . ) I desire the’ll add this to this game : then for certain you ’ll see a mod of mine to do in force head trailing .
JD : How much money did you spend on it ?

t2j : Well I used an former PS2 controller … , an sometime USB extender , two chopstick , and a metallic element hanger . In other words : costless
aside from being a mod genius , the2jakes is a Frenchman who loves play , VR and real car racing . He says he always liked building peripheral gadget for his microcomputer . He made his own first racing wheel 11 days ago and since then he has been doing all sorts of mod , including a dynamic racing seat with built - in subwoofers , servos and a telecasting projector , all made with home components .
His first attempt to make a head - mount show was made “ using ordinary off - the - ledge clobber I had . ” This include a helmet and a graphics tablet ( of all things ) . “ I jazz , it ’s kind of big and heavy , ” he say , “ but was fun to build . ”

He even created a simulation with built - in 8 - column inch TFT showing with a SVGA connection to his PC and unified sound :
Please , someone give this guy scads of money and his own game computer peripheral company .
