Look , we get it — it was a large thing in the quondam Expanded Universe canon that Thrawn studied the graphics of different cultures to better understand how they thought tactically . But I reckon freedom fighter might be pack Thrawn ’s artistic leanings a number too far in this new clip .
The cartridge holder , from this weekend ’s upcoming installment “ Hera ’s Heroes , ” sees a captured Hera Syndulla in Thrawn ’s clutches . As with everything we ’ve seen of the Chiss on Rebels so far , Thrawn is ominous and redoubtable , declare his new way of waging state of war for the Empire through artistic knowledge as he slink around the imprisoned Hera .
And then … he reveals he knows who Hera really is because he ’s been stick out in front of a painting of her and her class this whole time ! ?

I ’m not sure Thrawn ’s study of art is meant to give him the answer quite so literally , but I kind of love the over - the - top evil of it . It ’s all well and salutary to see Thrawn slinking and sinister , but this sort of insanity give a mo of fun to the fictitious character , too . I trust at some point in Rebels ’ third season he trundle out a painting he found of a Star Destroyer blowing up Rebel frigate as his new battle plan . Such genius !
