One of the first videodisk players to do with DVI , or Digital Video Interface . Basically a DVD instrumentalist with a DVI - out porthole can direct a pure digital video signal to a digital video display , rather than having to change the telecasting sign to analog ( which degrades picture quality ) to watch a DVD on a goggle box with only parallel inputs . Not that there are a whole lot of options out there yet for displays with DVI - in ports , but they ’re add up .
