There ’s alot of sandwormsin Dune : Part Two . We even get to study a mint about how to start out cod them , thanks toan extended sequencewhere Paul is train in mounting the massive creatures . But stick off of one?Only one mancurrently knows that beyond Arrakis , and he ’s keeping it very secret .
Villeneuve apparently gets a draw of questions about dismounting sandworms , which he draw as a “ mad Uber system ” during a recent interview withIndiewire . But all that inquiring has lead him to image out the logistics of it all … and then keep it to himself , for now . “ I knew how . I found a way , ” the theatre director teased . “ It was not dramatically necessary in Part Two to see someone get out of the worm , but I know how to do it . And I ca n’t wait to put that on screen . ”
Villeneuve is ripe about the dramatic necessity of it all — Paul training in the ways of the Fremen he ’s add up to bond with in Part Two is the important view of seeing how thesandworms get mounted , but jumping off one is something we do n’t necessarily call for to see . It feel like a very weird item to concern about in a humankind with poisoned psychical baby and an equal mix of atomic warfare and religious fundamentalism , when you could merely be satisfied watch jumbo sandworms Edvard Munch on ream of citizenry like Sardaukar - mold kibble . But then again , it ’s not surprising that the man who knows the answer to all that minutia , teasingly so , is also the one who hasextended , shit - centrical thoughtsabout thereusable thumper devicesthe Fremen use to entice sandworms in the first place .

We ’ll just have to wait and see what makes Sandworm Dismounting dramaturgically necessary in Dune : Messiah , whenever Warner Bros. support its inevitable existence after Part Two’sbig box office splashthis past tense weekend . It ’ll be a while though , reckon Villeneuve has made it vindicated he want to take his time prepare for his third and final Dune motion-picture show . Maybe it ’s the sandworm dismounting that need the most care ?
