We ca n’t get a James Bond moving-picture show , thanks to MGM ’s financial troubles . But do n’t worry — we can get Arabian tea And hotdog : The Revenge Of Kitty Galore , which is the worst James Bond spoof of all fourth dimension . Featuring Roger Moore !
Do I really want to have a despoiler warning for this review ? Is anybody hoping to see this movie unspoiled , so all the clever plot twists can surprise and delight you ? Fine then . Spoilers in the lead !
So here ’s the bottom line , because if you ’re even considering see this film , you plausibly have ADHD . There are at least two good kid ’ picture show in theaters the right way now : Toy report 3 and slimy Me . And there are a few other gravid options for sustain your child distract for a few hour — honestly , it ’s better to watch one of those other flick for the third or fourth prison term than to see this one .
At its effect , Cats And Dogs : The Revenge Of Kitty Galore is like one of those Scary Movie / Superhero Movie / Epic Movie / Meet The Spartans type spoofs — except with talking animals , whose lip move . Various undercover agent / pig movies are lampooned in a half - hearted fashion , but it ’s vaguely cunning because there are cats and cad in the intermixture . This is forged in and of itself , because everything is a pastiche of a pastiche of a pastiche , thus teaching children that genre is stupid . But we ’ll get to that in a second .
First — because I ’m still assuming you have minimal brain dysfunction — I ’m going to order you the cause you MUST NOT SEE THIS MOVIE . One of the suspect talk animals is a pigeon . And the big jocularity about this pigeon is that he ’s really dim , because his brain is the sizing of a grapevine . So he forget what he ’s blab about in mid judgment of conviction , he ’s unequal to of realise really basic stuff , he ’s kind of idiotic , etc . This , in itself , is not a tough comedic vanity . Except that the dumb pigeon , Seamus , is sound by African American comedian Katt Williams , whose vox comes out sounding a mo like Skids and Mudflap in Transformers 2 . Imagine “ The Twins ” if the put-on was that they were too stupid to move . Almost all of the other representative in the movie are done by snowy role player , and they ’re of at least normal intelligence activity . ( Update : patently I missed that Michael Clarke Duncan does one of the other animal voices . ) Seriously . you could not take your kids to see this motion picture .
frankly , if it had n’t been for the pigeon thing , I would have given the movie a C - minus and washed my hands of it . But this is really not okay .

Okay then . So the good news is , Cats And Dogs II is very science fictional . Both in the sense of wacky spy widget and a crack - futuristic Men In sinister - fashion “ den ” for the animals , and in the gumption that the game is pure ridiculous scifi . There ’s a artificial satellite , and a hidden formula , and if you plunge the code at the right meter , it ’ll bet a sound that only detent can hear , which make all dogs in the world go sick . The conceiver behind all of this is Kitty Galore , a cat who fall into a tub of chemicals that made her suffer her fur , thus take her insufficiently cute . ( Side note : As someone who sleep with sphinx cat , I found this slur against hairless computerized axial tomography to be deeply idle . ) The threat is so fearsome , it forces the war forces of qat and dogs to put aside their differences and work together .

Besides the cat baddie being named Kitty Galore , there are tons of other James Bond in - jokes . As I mentioned , Roger Moore does the phonation of the drawing card of the cat undercover agent , who ’s named Tab Lazenby ( “ George Lazenby ” being the name of Roger Moore ’s precursor in the role of James Bond . ) The opening credit are genuinely awesome — a crew of terpsichore silhouettes of cats and dogs , over a unfeignedly rocking Shirley Bassey get over version of Pink ’s “ Get This Party Started , ” in the way of her Goldfinger paper song . Kitty Galore ’s evil design is vaguely resonant of adamant Are Forever and Moonraker ( the film versions ) , and so on . There are also some spoofs of Mission Impossible , The Silence Of The Lambs , and assorted other movies / telly shows that parent will recognize .

So to some extent , mockery like this have always been the style that Kid larn about dada polish ’s major touchstone . Many of us grow up reading Mad Magazine and watching sketch that satirize famous movies . I read the Mad Magazine parodies of a shockingly high number of movie before I ever saw the original films . But do lampoon aimed at kids have to be as brainpower - dead as they are in Cats And Dogs 2 ? After watching this film , you ’re left with the feeling that the film - makers have never even seen the thing they ’re parody , they ’ve only ever construe other parody , which they ’re re - parody . Everything is so far removed from whatever made it awesome in the beginning that it ’s like a bad copy of a written matter . This is not how our children should be introduce to their pop - cultural heritage !
