We could soon find out , since manufacturer Chuck Roven want shooting to begin next class . Roven talked to IESB about Robotech , and mentioned that there ’s no book yet . Maguire is producing , but may or may not star . ( Most probably , he ’ll be too in use with the next two Spider - Man films . ) Goldsman ( I Am Legend , I , Robot , Batman And Robin ) is also producing , but it ’s not clear if he ’s writing the script . In the Robotech saga , an alien starship crashlands on Earth in 1999 , after ten years of devastating global warfare . The crash ship wake the Earthlings to the opening of alien invasion , and everybody rallies around , forming a Modern man government that marshal all resources to beat a possible alien invasion . Ten years later , the Earth ship is finally ready to found — just as the first waving of Zentraedi aggressor show up . It ’s up to two young pilots to keep enter the day . Eventually , there are three waves of foreign encroachment . Talking about the storyline , Roven said that an exotic intrusion is the “ triggering event ” for the film ’s secret plan . So either he ’s confused about the break up starship thing , or the motion-picture show will be different . But he also punctuate that there ’s no playscript yet , and everything is up in the air . He would n’t even say for sure whether the motion-picture show takes place on Earth . product blueprint has n’t even started yet , but Roven state it ’ll be reasonably faithful to the look of the original animize serial publication . I really trust Goldsman does n’t write the playscript for this motion-picture show — his script are always a fiddling too pat and preachy for me . I sort of hope they do keep the whole thing about the Earth uniting after the alien starship shows up , since it ’s like a look at the world after the end of Watchmen . But I desire they show the problematic parts of that scenario as well as the rose-cheeked 1 . Also , I go for they keep the thing where the human finish starts to shape the warlike Zentraedi and “ contaminate ” the Zentraedi civilization , since that could be fun to catch . [ IESB ]
