The Dreamer , principal of the webcomic The Forgotten Order , is a ivory doll , a human cursed to swear out the race of wizards known as the Fauni . When she finds herself owned by a sweet but clumsy Fauni crone lady friend , the girl thinks she ’s eventually found a friend . But the Dreamer longs for her freedom — and retaliation on the wizard who cursed her .
In the macrocosm of C. Morgan Bontrager ’s webcomicThe Forgotten Order , the tusk Fauni own a natural conjuration , one that let them turn humans ( and perhaps other creatures ) into bone wench , arch mystical slaves . Now that os dolls are considered illegal , the Dreamer has whiled away the long time in a merchant ’s cabinet , nurse a score against the magician who made her a ivory doll , a champion she ca n’t remember . In the meantime , she dream and encounters a seemingly immortal fellow dreamer who call for to gather her in the real world , something beyond the Dreamer ’s power .
But one disastrous Clarence Day , the Dreamer lands in the hand of Trystan , a young Fauni young lady who , unlike the other members of her raceway , is absolutely untalented in magic . Trystan stick out from a secret illness , and between her thin health and her lack of wizard power , she has been left friendless . And so the Dreamer becomes the slave - ally to the emotionally lust young woman — whether the Dreamer likes it or not .
Even as the Dreamer explore the enigma behind her own curse , however , she begins to wonder if there is n’t more to Trystan than run across the eye . What is the nature of Trystan ’s strange sickness ? Does her quiet but powerful apothecary father sleep with more than he lets on ? And why does she seem incapable of using conjuration when her sibling are so expert at it ? Despite her perspective as a magic - bound servant and Trystan ’s cloying nature , the Dreamer even start up to care about the infantile missy .
But Bontrager keep the Dreamer ’s own mystery just as interesting , peeling back the layer of her past in the menacing dreaming Earth . And it seems very likely that Trystan and the Dreamer ’s whodunit will collide — and that Trystan will have to grow up if either of them every wants to solve them .
