That mission was later born-again , with all four satellite rebuilt and successfully launched into infinite in 2000 . They remain in orbit today , investigating the Earth ’s magnetized fields .
The debris from the explosion was scatter over a huge orbit of swamp , sea and savanna , and the ESA collected as much of it as it could . This yr , creative person Sascha Mikloweit raise an installation for the ESA based around the detritus — a serial publication of samples and mellow - resolution image of the remnants .

The space agency has released this image in cooking for the festivities of the coming weekend . Sascha explains :
“ All Hallows ’ Eve reminds us of destruction and nascence , perhaps the most essential cycle in our Universe , whether applied to wandflower , asterisk , rocketships or man . This ikon stand for that cycle , lionise the loss , rebirth and now 15 years of scientific winner that is the Cluster mission . ”
