However , this give me a hazard to capture these really popping out against the dull land and dead leaves . Surprisingly Classy Photoshop Filter

This fall in Colorado is unusual in that leave rest on the trees after Halloween . Normally , November 1st is cold and dingy with nary a leaf of colouring material in sight . This photo op come when I was walking down the private road . With the sun illuminating the leave-taking from behind the Tree , the shapes and colors , the interplay of light and dark intrigue me . Again , this was my trustworthy Canon Powershot A720 IS , arrange on auto . And once again , I play with the Topaz Labs filter for Photoshop , Simplify / Buzsim . I care how the filter treats the leaves and creates a near tarnish glass effect with arm and foliage .

Mantis

In cheery California , we really do not experience the four time of year like the east coast . Most of our trees still have their leaf entire and the colours do not really interchange until really recent fall early wintertime . I am golden to some trees and shrub on my place that are experiencing some color change . The first photo is unprocessed with the exception of white balancing . I require to show the beg mantis ’ colour contrasts with its palisade leaf . The 2d picture has been pull off with direct contrast , resonance and vignetting . I want to express our marvelous weather this leaf is feel by exercise with lense flash . Canon XSI – Sigma 28 mm f/1.8 , Aperture 3

This was Taken in the Lasal Mountains just outside of Moab , UT . The colouring up there are awesome this time of year . This was near the Hazard County mountain biking trails ( which is why I was there in the first lieu ) . The whole country is incredible , you’re able to be in the desert one minute , and then take a 20 minute movement and be in the high alpine .

On Moss

Lumix GF1 , 20 mm f/1.7 , 1/80 shutter , ISO100 .

While rove the woodland it was like walk on a colored mosaic of fallen leaves , some with a soft mix of red and green and others strike like bright reddish pharos . In one fleck the exuberant , squishy , moss made a beautiful carpeting for the farewell to lie down on . With all the wet in the air the water had beaded up on the fuzzy underside of the leaves but were slick on the more colorful side of the leaves . I dismiss the tripod to only a foot off the ground so I could get some profoundness of direction without lose the mosaic nature of the leaves .

Where the Red Ferns Grow

Here is my photo that I strike on October 25th at Sequoia National Park . I was hike to Tharps Log and the clouds start rolling over the mountain . It was really a very eerie feeling as this was happen . I am not a buff of Twilight but I was half gestate some werewolf action to materialise . There was not too much declivity foliage up there but the variety of coloring material and the haze makes a cool shot in my opinion . Glass Ball

I received a crystal ( really just looking glass ) nut as a gift and wanted to attempt it out right away . Walked down the street , take in the beautiful trees and take in some blastoff . It was harder than I call back it ’d be , holding the ball ( quite arduous ) in one handwriting and the camera with the other since I did n’t have a tripod , but I ’m really happy with the way this came out . I edited the picture using Picasa and Picnik . increase the highlight and shadow to bring out some colour . Also used focal B / W with opaqueness at around 70 % . Virginia Panorama

This was actually my last shot of the daylight . It was about 5 post-mortem and the Dominicus was passably brilliant before we had made our rise to the peak so i wanted to go back for one last chance . You might be wondering where this place is and the answer is Virginia . My girlfriend and I were just in a wedding in Lynchburg and planned our trip so that we would have a day to see the visual sense . There is a small hotel / eatery at the base call the Peaks of Otter Lodge . It is a beautiful place with breathtaking eyeshot . This was where the photo was taken and it change by reversal out to be my favourite photograph of the trip . I am happy we went back before we left because the lighting was just correct . I go for you bask the pic as much as we did take it . Nikon D90 , Nikon 18 - 105 mm @ 75 mm , f/8 , 1/40 - sec .

This guess was made while climbing Mojstrovka wall in Mala mojstrovka , Slovenia . It was former declivity when larch in the mass make headway first hue but it was dusty enough already that the morning fog fills the vale . Imprint

This is in reality my desktop picture right now . The best part of fall , for me , was always the apparition that forget impart on sidewalk after they ’ve decayed , particularly after rainwater . I call them leaf spook . I was lucky to find two leaves on the sidewalk right before they disintegrated completely . When I came home and uploaded the picture show I realized that the placement of the leaves right next to the crease in the sidewalk made them good campaigner for a diptych . Both pictures in the diptych were take with my Canon Digital Rebel XT with my EF - S 60 mm Macro lens . The video on the right was taken at f/4.5 , 1/640 , ISO 400 and the one on the left was take on at f/4.5 , 1/320 , ISO 400 .

Bonsai Fall

One of my bonsai Tree . This is an spell Korean hornbeam ( Carpinus coreana ) that I have been working on for the last few years . The Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree was mature in Korea and import to the US in the 80s . It is roughly 60 years old . I acquired it a few age ago and start ameliorate it . It required major pruning to clean house out the top of the tree . cut it back ( and using wire to shape it ) aid get better forking ( smaller and modest ramification ) . beginning work amend what is known as the ‘ nebari ’ in Japanese ; the root distribute where the tree anchor itself to the ground . I repot it into this wonderful American - made bonsai pot last March . It was selected for the second U.S. National Bonsai show this Spring and prosper all class top up to this crepuscle . Preparing a tree diagram for a major show is planned well over a year in advance ; this tree must have loved being cocker because it showed itself beautifully all twelvemonth .

declivity color is still somewhat of a mystery even to plant scientist . Rainfall , sunlight and temperature all make for a part . But the bottom line is I never get it on how much color a tree will have until the colors start to modify . This year ’s colour were glorious on this tree .

Taken out of doors with black sheepskin advert off the outside wall of my house . I waited for good light with no direct sunlight to prevent hot spot and shadower . I fritter away the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree every day as the colors intensify desire to catch the crest of the presentation .

Hipstamatic, I Wish I Could Quit You

For this challenge I decided to test the limit of my iPhone 4 , and so I get hold of both of my jibe in the Hipstamatic app . The only post processing do was the resizing of my images in CS5 . Again , for this challenge I was really hope to aim for new perspective and , right place and correct fourth dimension , find this tree on campus with its leaves turning . I like how the Orange River leave seem to almost be on fervour with sun radiate through them so brilliantly .

-Branden Kerr

Just Leaves

Taken with a Nikon D5000 1/320 f/5.0 ISO 200 26 mm . While walking through the Mungo Park I handle to find this tree diagram with nearly all it ’s leave still on it . The sun had just come out on a particularly drab daytime and I like how the sun shown through the leaves and really work out the detail of the leaf with all it ’s niggling nervure . In post - production I cropped to bring attention to the detail of the foliage and slightly bumped up the chroma .

Fallen

I was out in full force wanting to get a estimable flick for this challenge . I wanted it to be of leaves . Well as you may see this picture is really miss in the leafage department . This part of Ohio has had a really dry summer and made the downfall no so outstanding . All the leaves are mostly off the trees and already brown . So I was walk through the woods and this Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree just speak to me . I make out this perspective of a tree and decide to see what I could get . So I go the color I wanted ( sky ) and got to show some eccentric of this stripped of its leave tree . This was shot with a D7000 in Aperture Priority Mode at f5.6 with a 18 - 105 lens at 18 millimeter ( 27 millimetre dx ) at ISO 110 and 1/60sec .

Just taking a pass by the lake with all my gear , knowing it was the season of colors . Fencing

I was looking forfall leavesto shoot two weeks ago on a weekend afternoon and had to take a roundabout way because of a closed bridge near Hopewell , NJ . The detour route which otherwise I never would have traveled , had a great solidification of Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree so I lined up the trees and fence and admit this pellet that showed a lot of different color variations both in Tree and leaf . I used a canon 5D Mark II , 28 - 300 Canon telephotograph soar out to 300 , F/5.6 , ISO 800 and shutter speed 1/100 .

Harvest

rubric : “ The Last Blast . ” We ’ve had a glorious free fall - foliage season in New England this year . There is a local cemetery with some incredibly gallant maples . They ’re also some of the last trees to ferment in the fall . I headed over to the burial site one late good afternoon a couple of weeks ago when the sunshine was intermittently dodging behind the clouds , and hear another photographer there . I said , “ We had the same idea , did n’t we ? ” He said , “ Oh , you should ’ve seen all the photographers here in the last 45 minutes . They ’ve left already , but I ’m hoping for a last flak of sunlight from behind those swarm . Maybe we ’ll catch it . ” We did . As it turn out , this was also the last blast of bright color this time of year . I shoot down this with a Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 20 mm f/2.8 crystalline lens . ISO 200 , f/6.3 , 1/125″.

Oxbow Bend

thought of Mount Moran calculate across the Oxbow Bend of the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park . Having been to Grand Teton once before , my married woman and I knew that the aspen and cottonwood leaves are at their tiptop gloam colour around the end of September , so we plan this trip around that . We had a perfect day with almost no tip to ripple the weewee and ruin the reflections of the mountain and the trees . tv camera / Lens : Nikon D300 DSLR with Nikon 18 - 200 mm electron lens surge to 34 mm . photograph : 1/400 at f/10 ( ISO 500 )

Urban I

I shot this in Dortmund , Germany today after discover the awful yellow - to - red gradient of leaves on this church wall . I also really like what look like a helix of leaves going from the foreground to the back . There is n’t much to say about proficiency here , it ’s a straightforward handheld shot at 72 mm , 1/50s , f5.7 and iso 640 on a Canon 7D. I used photoshop to remove noise , to make a little bit of gleaming and to increase the line and the blueness of the windows .
