WINNER – Sun Stained
This is the most notable shelved rice bench in Japan . It is in the southern Kyushu part , Saga prefecture , Genkai town . Late seasonal pelting allow the this arena to get institute later than other neighborhood thus giving the sun time to align with the orbit . The region itself is exceptionally rural with few attractions so by from lensman , it is seldom graced by tourists . I was about a week deep in scud this , the rice is poking through , so this topographic point will be in my hunting next class as well . tv camera : Nikon 3Ds configurations : 16 - 35 mm 4F @35 mm 16F 200ISO Filter : Circular Polarizing sour to raise reflection Other : WB toned at Auto B4 to get orangish / gamey gradient Process : manual digital blending of 8 shots , colour toning in PS . In some meter , every color in the rainbow is present in this scene , even Battle of Magenta ( typically should n’t be ) .

Water Filter
This was taken Saturday at the zoo . We made the slip on a whim because the weather was so beautiful . I almost left the camera bag in the railcar because it was a bit hot and I did n’t really need to be chafe with it . Well safe matter I get it ! All of the animals were very photogenic , even this grown cat . My “ calorie-free colloidal gel ” was completely natural – naughty above from the piss and green below from this Trichechus manatus ’s delicious lettuce lunch . The only light source was the Dominicus . Canon XSI , 85 mm Canon EF choice lens , f/1.8 , 1/320 .

Broadcast Rainbow
This is an exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum . I loved how the ignitor from the art danced across the reflective floor . These colors are exactly what the exhibit gave as well , no re - coloration was done . It was have with a Canon T2i with a shutter stop number of 1/30 , ISO of 200 , Aperture of 3.5 , and at 18 mm with an 18 - 55 millimeter lens system .

Metal Lives
I was at the Megadeth / Rob Zombie concert 2 days ago in Pittsburgh , PA ( May 16th , the 24-hour interval the contest was announced ) . I was trying to get as close as potential to the stage when the show was come on the end . The guy in the silhouette is one of the crowd mastery nut , he would n’t let me get any closer . While stepping back a little disgusted I saw these flares shooting out of the back of his head ( obviously they were from the twinkle on stage ) . I took the picture on my iPhone and then as always open it up in the Camera+ App , added a crowd of force . And then added a rainbow slope with the radial setting and countersink the transferral modality to Hue using Photoshop . That ’s the account of this Lights Picture , I guess I care it make it was more of a spontaneous chink rather than a plan one . Camera – iPhone 4 with no additional lens fixtures .

Obama High Five
For this challenge , I scud many many various and sundry lights . Took my entry on a whim drive back from the Nationals loss to the O ’s . tv camera was set on an automatic setting called “ Handheld Twilight ” which retick me off when the shutter clicked more than once , but front at the icon afterward , I was plaeased . Brought it into Photoshop upon arrive home and selected all the bright spots , added a rainbow slope then overlayed the genuine image agin with a 95 % opacity . think this figure of speech with the add Rainbow was a outstanding representaion of Obama ’s favorable reception of same sex activity marriage . flash on a Sony SLT-33A with the Handheld Twilight Settting , basically HDR , but not as dramatic .

Hair Flip
This particular photo was the product of experimentation . I have no expendable income at the here and now , so I made my own gel out of dark translucent paper and tap them on from of my flashes . The flashes were placed into my DIY softbox and dish ravisher . I really delight the contrast that red and blue makes , so I felt they were appropriate for this exposure with so much apparent movement . This photo was shoot with : Nikon D3000 , Nikon 18 - 70 DX F/3.5 - F/4.5 , ISO 400 , Two speedlights on television camera right and left with bleached gels .

Rainbow Crossing
I ’m certain we could turn over whether the hebdomadal Shooting Challenges are 30 per centum technological challenge , 70 pct conceptual challenge , or some magnetic declination thereof . Each week we are asked to come up with an idea for a photo that conforms to some expert concept ( for example blackened and white , technicolor , long exposure , etc . ) I have to allow that each week I am pretty stumped , mostly by the construct part . This week was no exception . Stock slope in Photoshop . Shot on a Canon EOS 30D , 24mm-105 mm lens at 105 mm , f4 , 1/2000 , ISO 200 .

Fantastic entrance this workweek . I was surprised by how many of you went full - out rainbow rather than more subtle color gels . But then again , how often do you get to paint a picture with every color under the sun ? Full heading below . The really handsome shots are on flickr .
